Responsible Competitiveness

Filed under: CSR in general - Cui Yu @ 3:53 pm

On November 17th last year, the chief executive of AccountAbility, Dr. Simon Zadek, gave an hour-long talk at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on responsible competitiveness. He discussed how responsible competitiveness - where markets systematically and comprehensively reward businesses for more responsible practices, and penalise them for the converse - can lead to enhancing the competitiveness of countries and regions. Dr. Zadek outlined an action agenda that includes:

1. Encourage performance-aligned corporate responsibility practices (eg. Global Leadership Network)

2.  Investigate sector potential (eg. pharma, finance)

3. Identify cross-cutting issues (eg. demographics)

4. Policy development (eg. links to trade policies)

5. Improve measurement
